Lullaby Road by James Anderson

This story is set in the desert of Utah where a truck driver named Ben finds himself in trouble at the start of his day. He finds a boy at the gas station alone in the cold and must decide if he will leave him there or take him along. Ben deals with lullabies, fugitives, threat, mystery and secret horrors of his past all while driving in winter conditions on Route 117.

While I liked the details of Ben’s past, present and the eccentric characters of the desert, I didn’t like the length. I thought it was too long by about 50-100 pages. Upon looking online, this story is a sequel to his book  The Never-Open Desert Diner. It would have been more cohesive if I had read that because the desert diner is mentioned frequently. I would have been able to learn more about Ben’s past. Read this if you like secluded desert towns, murder, mystery and fugitive themes. This book comes out January 16, 2018.

Overall I gave a rating of 3/5 stars .
